Transport for London has launched a competition to encourage developers to create mobile applications for its network that will make real time data more accessible to disabled and elderly passengers, The applications must provide solutions to help improve the experience of passengers with special needs who find conventional information challenging.
The proposed apps should look at physical ease of use including making the touchscreen and dynamic elements user-friendly; clarity of information to help people who are unfamiliar with technology or have difficulty understanding technical language; compatibility with assistive technology features (screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control) and with a wide range of devices.
Entrants will have the opportunity to submit designs until 30 August 2013 and the winners will be announced at the end of September. For more information, please visit Transport for London website.
