Spain’s ONCE Foundation unveiled last Friday a pilot application for tablets designed to assist individuals with disabilities during job trainings. The software aims to provide both trainers and trainees with the necessary assistive tools to improve efficiency and success.

According to Luis Bascones, social researcher at Technosite, the application provides several options to enable a trainer to customize information about job tasks according to the needs of each trainee. Among the available options are easy-to-read versions of the information offered, pictograms, photos, and videos. The application is compatible with assistive devices such as screen readers and includes haptic notification features. The software has also been designed to help trainers prepare training sessions, follow up trainees’ progress, and consult task schedules, among others.

The project is part of ONCE Foundation’s efforts to achieve the full inclusion of people with disabilities in society and the workforce.
