AbleRoad is a website and a free application available for devices running with iOS that help tourists with disabilities find accessible hotels, restaurants, entertainment and even parking places anywhere.
The software is compatible with VoiceOver and Zoom, and allows users to rate and review businesses on, but not limited to, the following categories: Mobility: Parking places, restrooms, entrances, lobby, counters/registers, ramps, etc. Hearing: noise levels, fire alarms, captioning availability, VideoPhone/TTY, visual information, staff assistance, etc.
Vision: Public transportation announcements, phone information, website accessibility, sufficient lightning, navigation, etc. Cognitive: oral information, illustrative communication, signaling, phone support, credit card alternatives, staff assistance, etc.
The application also offers information about available health and medical services as well as food markets. AbleRoad is available for downloading from the Apple Store and can also be accessed by visiting ableroad.com. An Android version is expected in April 2013.
